*Thwaps* As the system has not been published yet would it really matter how much damage they did? And the answer would very much depend on what kind of axe you were thinking of.

We could start up a sensible discussion about the kind of axes people would be interested in seeing introduced into the game. Any weaponry or ancient history experts out there have any suggestions for axes, links to more information, justification of why they should exist? Go for it.

I agree. They may not necessarily be the most commonly wielded weapons, but there is no reason why they should not exist. Flashy magical or virtually indestructable weapons would be like goldust, if in existence at all.
What kind of axes would you consider to be 'normal' or commonplace in a medieval setting ?

Double headed war axes would be devestating in combat, ala Druss, and big weirdos who have no talent but plenty of brawn would probably use them. Are you going to have katanas? *sits and waits patiently for something, like an axe being swung at him*

*leaves people with axes to swing them, refrains as Charles apparently knows 'people'*
Yes, Katana's will be one of the means of death and destruction within the game... as verfied by Jim.

I'm taking some bizarre pleasure in watching the advertising bar try to second guess what we might be interested in. Thanks to Mark and his elf obsession we had elf and fairy adverts, last I saw it was roleplaying and adverts for world of darkness.

On the axes... probably hatchets.. smaller single headed ones used for wood chopping.. single headed larger ones for war... a double headed battle axe really would only be realistic for a larger person and probably only on horseback.

Chopping axes would prob be covered by improvised weapons I would imagine? I dont actually know the rules laid down for weapons, but thats what i would guess at!

Anything that was designed for chopping down trees would work as a weapon but like other tools used as weapons they can be 1. blunt in the comparison to thei weapon 2. weighted in a different way 3. have a thicker/thinner blade and would do a different kind of damage.
I guess it would be a case by case basis for weapons such as scythes, wood axes, pitch forks, bread knives etc....
